scubafantazia is the new West Midlands Ambulance Service scuba diving club.
We welcome people of all ages, qualifications and experience. We intend to arrange a series of “try dives” which will consist of approximately 30 minutes health & safety lecture then it's off to the pool for approximately 1 hour of practical scuba diving. (Trust me, that 1 hour goes too fast).
As yet, we require more diving instructors to assist in our quest. By law, we must have a full complement of qualified staff before we can proceed with any training courses.
However, we are currently in talks with a training company who are willing to give us very generous discounts for any courses that we send any of the club members to... Interested?
We will be holding a number of open meetings at Chelmsley Wood Ambulance Station for anyone who would like further information. We will be able to show short DVDs and videos etc.
I can guarantee that we are a friendly dive team, we do not do the usual diving macho attitude - it doesn’t matter if you have completed 1 dive or 10,000 dives, you will be treated with respect.
We will also be arranging trips in the UK and abroad - Egypt is fantastic, the best I have ever dived.
For the UK we have our own 7.5 metre RIB (rigid inflatable boat) that can convey 8 divers + the skipper.
We generally travel down to Poole in Dorset, cast off, then make our way in search of wrecks to dive on; we have lunch at the Smugglers Inn at Osmington Mills.
We will also arrange social nights out where we can have a few drinks to rehydrate and discuss where we would like to dive on our next trip. Still interested?
Warning: - May lead to lots of fun & excitement!
Hope to see you at one of the meetings.
